Working memory

Baddeley and Hitch (1974) argued that short-term memory is not one store but a system with parts that work together: the central executive, the phonological loop and the visuospatial sketchpad.

Evidence: dual-task studies. Two verbal tasks interfere; a verbal and a visual task much less.
